Yes, it’s designed to be motivational, but it includes application of learning tools in a process that life-long learners will appreciate. Whatever your learning style, there is no substitute for hard work and practice, as demonstrated by Tom’s examples and his personal learning system.”

“As a former student and parent of three boys, I have always believed that our school systems could do more to teach our students ‘how’ to study. Emphasis always seems to be placed on ‘what’ to study. I would highly recommend that all middle and high school students become acquainted with Tom’s learning skill system in order to learn HOW to study, thereby minimizing the stress often associated with the learning and testing processes.”
— Kathy McNeil, Geneva, Illinois
“After attending Tom’s impressive presentation of his innovative learning system, I wished I was back in college. Had I the benefit of applying Tom’s system back in my college days, I could have “aced” every course and had a lot more free time for insightful round-table discussions with my fraternity brothers. Tom’s study-skill learning system is a golden ticket for any student who has a desire to learn and achieve excellent grades in a very efficient manner.”
— Mick Mayes, Business Owner, St. Charles, Illinois
“I recently took an exam for a professional certification I was seeking for work. I used Tom’s learning skill system, passed my exam and obtained the certification without difficulty. I am very pleased with the outcome and the fact that I learned several critical learning skills which I will be able to use in the future to further my career. I have also used Tom’s system to summarize noteworthy books I have read – the succinct and efficient summaries will be used for my future reference.”

THE FOLLOWING WAS FORWARDED BY A MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER AFTER A PRESENTATION MADE TO 7th GRADERS
“Mr. Rosensteel, I am forwarding letters from students who wrote to you after your time in our classroom. Thank you again.”
“Thank you, Mr. Rosensteel, for coming in and teaching us on how to live our life. You taught us your process of how to go through school and not give up in school. How you went in life must have been tough. It inspired me to try and go to school even if I can go straight to the NHL and skip college if I wanted to. Thank you.” (male student)
“Dear Mr. Rosensteel, thank you for coming into our classroom. It was very cool to hear your story and it has helped me a lot. I have gotten an A on some recent tests because of your method. What I enjoyed the most was your story. It was very cool to hear that story and show how much that method helped you. It was also cool to hear about the motivational speaker, also the book writer. I have not started to read one of the books yet, but I hope soon that I will have time to read one. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to teach us. I hope one day I can pay it forward and teach other kids these ways to succeed.” (male student)
“Mr. Rosensteel – Thank you for sacrificing your own time to teach a bunch of middle schoolers. You taught me how to study for tests and I took that advice and my grades have significantly gone up. I also learned how to stay focused and remember more key terms in Spanish, science, math, and even language arts! I also enjoyed it when you talked about your heroes because I think it’s really cool that you met your idols. I not only enjoyed your presentation, but I also got 2 of my grades from a C to an A, with your presentation. I also know how to spend my time very wisely. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge with my class. I think it helped our class a lot.” (female student)
“Dear Mr. Rosensteel, Thank you for coming in and teaching us your process of learning information and telling us stories like how you struggled in college. Thank you for telling us about some of your heroes and idols. After your speech, I realized I will have to balance when I do things for school and have fun. I also appreciate you telling us how you take notes and how to highlight much easier.” (female student)
“Dear Mr. Rosensteel – Thank you for teaching me so that when I go to high school to never give up and to keep persevering. This really helped me because when I go to high school in 2 years, I will be able to use your method for when I have a test. You also taught me to take every chance you get and to not give up. I enjoyed when you talked about Michael Jordan and his achievements because that to me was the main part of your talk. Thank you for sharing your insight with us even though some might have found it boring.” (male student)
“Dear Mr. Rosensteel – Thank you so much for coming to my school to teach us how to study properly. This really helped me because I used your technique for a test and I got a really good grade. This was a great experience to get to know you. I really enjoyed it. Also, this helped me with annotating. I was looking for a different type of annotating that I liked. You helped me find my favorite type of annotating. I hope that you can come back to teach us more about your life experiences. It was very enjoyable. Thank you!” (female student)
“Dear Mr. Rosensteel – Thank you for telling us your secret to success. It helped me with upcoming tests, and with homework. The biggest thing I remembered was your formula for learning success. I take this everywhere I go. Before this, I was blasting music when I did homework and procrastinated a lot because of this. Your information made my grades go up and now I don’t procrastinate and don’t listen to music at all. Not only did I use it to help me stop procrastinating and get better grades, it also made me respect other people that work hard too because those are the people that get what they want. So I would just like to thank you again, for everything that you shared with me and my class. I will remember what you said for a long time.” (male student)
“Dear Mr. Rosensteel – Thank you for sharing your story and coming here and giving your time to talk to us. What I thought was important was that to be successful in life, you need to work and do your share. This helped me to understand more that you need to practice to be successful at pretty much everything. I started to get better at studying at better places. You taught me a lot thanks.” (male student)
“Dear Mr. Rosensteel – Thank you for showing us the struggles you had in college. It really helped me learn to persevere. Not only did I learn to persevere, but I learned how to plan my study times. I know some students have trouble planning when to study and that really helped them. Thank you for taking the time in your week to come to teach us.” (female student)
“Mr. Rosensteel – I want to thank you for coming in and teaching us your process and all about those athletes and those inspirational quotes. I even ended up searching for some more quotes by Michael Jordan! I really enjoyed all the stories you told. I learned a lot over those three days. I used your process on a math sheet that was confusing me and it helped! I got full points on it. I’m very excited to use your process for a test. And I’m really happy that you explained to us why it is important to try everything you wanna try in college otherwise I think I would have done what you had done the first time you were in college – just studied non-stop. I would like to thank you for teaching us that isn’t the way to go and to try lots of things college has to offer. So thank you so much and I hope we get to see you again!” (female student)

Hello Tom!
I hope that this email finds you and your family well. As I have been given an opportunity to reflect on this school year, I found myself thinking about all that you have done for our AVID students over the past two years. When I reflect on the similarities in your life story to that of the mission for our AVID students, I cannot help but be grateful to you for sharing your journey and your message with our students. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to come and mentor and partner with us.
In looking forward, we will definitely need to get you on the calendar for next year. We are hoping to have two 7th grade sections of AVID for the 2020-21 school year! Let's plan to touch based in late summer to set up our calendar dates.
